AU-IBAR support to Kenya in the development of National Livestock Master Plan

“Enhancing investments in the livestock sector for food security and economic empowerment” was the theme of the workshop held from 9th to 11th February at Naivasha, Kenya. The workshop gave the various participants an opportunity to deliberate on prioritized livestock sector value chains and data sources for the development of the Kenya Livestock Master Plan (KLMP). It is an essential step towards the support of the livestock sector's to emerge on national maps of finance and budgeting; and to enhance their contribution to food and nutrition security, poverty alleviation; livelihood and economic growth.

Communiqué: AU-IBAR support to the development and operationalization of the livestock identification traceability system in Sudan

On the 27 February 2021, the Sudanese Ministry of Animal Resources in close collaboration with AU-IBAR, organized a one-day inception workshop to announce the kick-off of the Sustainable Development of Livestock for Livelihoods in Africa project, “Live2Africa”, officially. In Sudan the project has a particular emphasis, as requested by the State, to development and operationalize a Livestock Identification Traceability System (LITS). The workshop was attended by most stakeholders of the livestock sector.

AU IBAR encourages the utilization of technologies and innovations for value addition and feed management in the poultry value chain in West Africa

A training of trainers’ workshop for the poultry value chain takes place from 15th to 19th march 2021 in Ghana. With the support of AU-IBAR, the workshop’s objective is to identify practical innovative technologies on the poultry value chain and facilitate their adoption by stakeholders in Ghana. Specifically, it is hoped to expose participants to current appropriate, simple, cost-effective, and gender-sensitive technologies and innovations and equip them to apply them in poultry feeding and along the poultry value chain.
